Do You Write Daily?
Writing every day has lots of benefits. This can serve as a journal of life events, thoughts, and plans. It can also help you clarify your thoughts and work through various ideas. The problem is that writing daily doesn’t always come easily.
Have you heard of Morning Pages? I learned about this concept from The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron. It is the idea that you take time each morning to write at least three pages of writing longhand every day. I’ve written morning pages many times with varied time frames but sometimes I write on paper and sometimes I use the 750 words site.
Writing by hand just feels more authentic and it feels satisfying to see the accumulation of words and pages together. You don’t have to use any device, and it is something you can pick up at any time without having to worry about an internet connection or a keyboard.
Writing online with something like 750 words site helps you keep track of your words. These statistics can have a way to track your streak and provides other stats as well.
Either way, writing morning pages is a great habit to start because it allows you to write down all your thoughts without worrying about publishing anything and it helps clear your mind of things. Writing seems to help you organize your thoughts and you might start to see patterns of thoughts or concepts here since it is so easy to just start writing about anything you want.
I’ve started up the morning pages again using the 750 Words site and already have a 7-day streak!
Are you interested in doing something like this? Are there other techniques you use to write daily? Send me a message if you are doing this as well. I would love to hear from you!
